Granger Response to State of the Union Address

Statement

Date: Jan. 25, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Kay Granger (TX-12) released the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union address:

"After this House passed thirty jobs bills in the last year, I wanted to hear from the President how he is going to work with the Congress to create jobs. I wanted to hear from the President how we are going to work together to cut spending without compromising our national defense in very uncertain times. Tonight there were a lot of familiar themes but very few solutions.

"The deficit has doubled, two million more Americans are out of work and there are more people living below the poverty level. Our country was built on rewarding innovation and investment, not on penalizing success with higher taxes and more regulations. Even in an election year, the Congress and the administration should be working together to deliver solutions to those who elected us. That would begin the road to economic recovery."

Granger was honored to have a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom as her guest for the speech.
