Bennet Statement on President Obama's State of the Union Address

Colorado Senator Michael Bennet tonight released the following statement in reaction to President Obama's State of the Union address:
"Tonight, in reaction to the President's speech and the Republican response, there will be plenty of debate and spin about the vast ideological and philosophical differences between the parties. My hope -- and it may be naivete -- is that when the dust settles tomorrow we will begin to look at the substance of the nation's challenges, and that we surprise the American people by coming together, rather than dividing ourselves, during an election year to find solutions. It is what Coloradans want and deserve.
"I am committed to working -- on jobs and the economy, on immigration, on education, on the debt and so much more -- with any Republican, Democrat or independent willing to rise above partisanship and find solutions. And, as President Obama said tonight, one place we can find common ground is on the responsible development of clean-burning natural gas, which Colorado has in abundance, as part of a transition toward clean energy and away from overseas oil. I also believe we should move forward with sensible immigration policies, like the DREAM Act and my STEM Visa Act, that will make our economy and our country better off."
