Today Rep. Gary Peters issued the following statement after President Obama's announcement that the war in Iraq has ended.

"Today President Obama kept his promise to our nation by responsibly ending the war in Iraq. On this historic day, as we honor the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women that have worn the uniform throughout this long war, let us also recommit ourselves to serving all of our veterans when they come home."

Rep. Peters previously served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve.
