Rigell Statement on Today's Jobs Report

Statement

Washington, December 2 -- Today Representative Scott Rigell (VA-2) released the following statement about today's jobs report:
"I welcome news of any "downtick' in America's unacceptably high unemployment rate. Americans across this great land are suffering under the great weight of a stalled economy, and we are ever mindful of their struggle.

"While today's jobs report is indeed good news, it is tempered knowing that the reduction is due, in part, to approximately 300,000 Americans giving up their effort to find employment. The employment outlook remains sobering, and creating the right conditions for job creation remains my number one priority.

"The number of jobs bills passed by the House of Representatives and sitting idle in the Senate has now reached 25. Senator Reid is doing his colleagues, and more importantly, every American seeking a job, a great disservice by failing to bring these bills to the Senate floor.

"Our economic pain is largely self-inflicted. We are regulating ourselves out of prosperity. I urge the Senate and in particular, Senator Reid to allow "regular order' and let the true voice of the Senate be heard."
