McConnell Says Bipartisan Signing Ceremony Will Show America Cooperation on Jobs Is Possible

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell issued the following statement today after the House passed a bipartisan jobs bill that cleared the Senate last week, sending the legislation to the White House for the President's signature:

"I commend the House today for passing the bipartisan bill that the Senate approved last week -- a repeal of the 3 percent withholding rule that will eliminate a burden on government contractors and a package of benefits for veterans that not only helps returning servicemen and women find jobs, but also helps those who hire them. Neither of these measures alone is going to solve the jobs crisis, but they'll provide relief to job creators and help American veterans. I want to especially thank Sen. Scott Brown, who not only introduced the 3 percent withholding bill, but worked so hard to see that it passed the Senate. And in recognition of his hard work, I hope the President will invite Sen. Brown to the White House signing ceremony, further underscoring the fact that there are plenty of House-passed bipartisan jobs bills that we can all agree on if only Senate Democrats would bring them up for a vote."
