On Tuesday, October 25, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Bangladesh, welcomed the new U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena in his Capitol Hill office. Crowley and Ambassador Mozena discussed how the U.S. can continue to strengthen U.S.-Bangladesh relations, overcome challenges and engage the growing and vibrant Bangladeshi community in the U.S.

"Ambassador Mozena is a dedicated public servant and a great diplomat, and I am proud to welcome him as the new ambassador to Bangladesh," said Rep. Crowley. "Bangladesh has become an important partner of the United States. Even as the country faces challenges, the Bangladeshi people have shown remarkable resilience, creativity and commitment to strengthening and maintaining democratic governance. These same traits can also be seen in New York's Bangladeshi community, which is a growing, strong and such a dynamic part of our great city. I look forward to working with Ambassador Mozena as he begins this extremely important post and continuing to work with the Bangladeshi-American community."

Rep. Crowley has traveled to Bangladesh several times and has been at the center of efforts to encourage democratic governance in the country. He has also worked to promote programs to address poverty, corruption, national reconciliation and women's rights in Bangladesh.

Congressman Crowley is the seven-term representative from the 7th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and serves as a Chief Deputy Whip in the House of Representatives.
