Senator Bayh Reaction to Secretary Powell's Presentation to the United Nations Security Council

Washington, D.C.- Senator Bayh today issued the following statement:

"The evidence against Saddam Hussein is persuasive and overwhelming. He has been deceiving and obstructing the international community for years, and further inspections will be of little use if Iraq continues to interfere with the work of the U.N. inspectors. The choice now belongs to Saddam. He can disarm voluntarily or we will be forced to take his weapons from him. No one wants military action, but we must do what is necessary to protect the security of the American people."
