Congresswoman Linda Sánchez released the following statement regarding President Obama's remarks on Iraq:

"I am pleased President Obama is taking decisive action in bringing all of our troops back from Iraq by the end of the year. I have long supported a timeline and benchmarks for our military commitment in Iraq and have consistently voted for a safe, orderly withdrawal of our troops. It is time, and Iraqi officials agree, for the Iraqi people to take responsibility for the future of their country.

"I applaud President Obama for keeping his promise to end the war in Iraq, and I salute all of the brave men and women in uniform whose service make this withdrawal possible."
