Whitfield Supports Bill to Keep Government from Hindering Job Creation

As you may recall from my last e-newsletter, I spoke about the steps the House has already taken to create and protect jobs in our struggling economy.

Yesterday, I voted in support of a bill that would remove another obstacle to job creation. The bill, known as the "Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act (H.R.2587), blocks the Obama Administration's National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from telling private businesses where they can and cannot create jobs. I strongly believe that job creation occurs best when the government does not dictate where and when a company can expand and grow their workforce.

This bill was spurred by the NLRB's interference when the airplane maker Boeing elected to open a plant in South Carolina that would have created several thousand jobs. The NLRB ruled that Boeing could not open their plant in South Carolina and must move the plant to Washington state. This action sends the message that companies are free to move to China and create jobs there, but not in the United States. I am pleased this bill has passed and hope the Senate will quickly follow on the House's leadership to keep jobs growth moving forward.
