Gov. Bev Perdue is encouraging all North Carolinians to honor first responders for the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11.
In conjunction with this initiative, Gov. Perdue and the N.C. Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service has partnered with local education agencies, volunteer centers and national service programs to organize community service activities that pay tribute to the brave men and women who respond when disasters and emergencies occur across the state.
"On this 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11, we take time to remember the victims and their families. Let us make it a day, not just of remembrance, but of appreciation", said Gov. Perdue. "Join me in thanking the courageous men and women who are first responders in our state and who make sacrifices each and every day to guarantee our safety."
