Real Reforms for Real Economic Results

Statement

Since President Obama took office, the number of American citizens receiving food stamps has increased by 40 percent--the largest increase in history. This alarming fact is a reflection of President Obama's out-of-touch economic policies.

With an unemployment level of 9.2 percent--the highest in 28 years--Congress must take immediate action to encourage employment and economic growth. I have been working hard over the past few months to garner support for three pieces of legislation that will help to get the American people back to work. To enhance our economic recovery, I urge the Senate and our President to:

* Cut, Cap and Balance--Cut, Cap and Balance would immediately cut spending by $111 billion next year, put enforceable caps in place to reduce future spending to less than 20% of GDP by 2017, and add a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

* Repeal Obamacare--Repealing Obama's unconstitutional government takeover of health care would cut new spending by $2.6 trillion over ten years and reduce the deficit by $700 billion.

* End Obama's Moratorium on Energy Exploration--By reversing the President's de facto moratorium on energy exploration, both on and offshore, the United States can free up our most productive oil and gas resources, restore jobs and cut the deficit by $800 million.

Fortunately, the House of Representatives has already passed all three of these policies. It is time for President Obama and the Senate to recognize these as sensible solutions to our nation's fiscal problems.

I encourage you all to continue voicing your support of these critical initiatives.
