Issue Position: Tax Reform

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

As you know, the tax code in this country is both vast and often contradictory and indecipherable. Every year, politicians in Washington attempt to convince the American public that if only they were able to raise taxes, all your problems would be solved. I disagree strongly with any action that raises taxes on working Americans. In this time of great economic uncertainty and peril, we must keep taxes low so that hard working Americans can put their dollars to work.

The problem in this country is not that we do not tax our citizens too little, it is that we spend too much. Tax rates can not go up indefinitely and are not a solution to the hard choices we must make as a nation. Accordingly, I am committed to reducing the tax burden on all Americans and fighting the culture of spending in Washington.
