Scalise: Senate Vote to Table Cut, Cap and Balance Ignores Washington's Spending Problem

Statement

Date: July 22, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to table the Cut, Cap and Balance Act.

"Harry Reid and the liberals in the Senate continue to live in denial that Washington has a spending problem, and if they don't like the responsible plan we passed in the House then it's time for them to show us their plan," Scalise said. "President Obama and liberals in the Senate have refused to present a plan of their own to control Washington spending, and have only offered more job-killing tax increases and vague "plans' developed behind closed doors by gangs that fail to recognize that Washington has to stop spending money it doesn't have."
