Nunnelee: House Passes Bill to Expedite Drilling Permits in Alaska

Press Release

Date: June 22, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today H.R. 2021, The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act, passed in the House of Representatives. The legislation would eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production opportunities off the coast of Alaska.

"While the policies of the Obama administration are causing more job losses, more dependence on Middle Eastern oil and more pain at the pump, House Republicans have been at the forefront of job creation and energy security. This bill is simply another step in getting Americans back to work and furthering our goal of energy independence. By eliminating needless permitting delays off the coast of Alaska, we could produce up to 1 million barrels of oil per day and create over 54,000 jobs," said Nunnelee.
