Walberg Comments on One Year Anniversary of Failed "Recovery Summer'

Statement

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg released the following statement on the one year anniversary of President Obama's "Recovery Summer."

"In 2009, the Obama administration promised that if the Democrats borrowed a trillion dollars to "stimulate' the economy, the unemployment rate would not exceed 8 percent. Today, we sit at 9.1%, and it's even worse in some parts of the 7th District," said Congressman Walberg.

One year ago today, the Obama administration launched its "Recovery Summer" publicity tour to bolster flagging support for the "stimulus."

"Where are the jobs, Mr. President? For 28 consecutive months, you have presided over an economy that has hovered at or above 8% unemployment, which you said would never be reached if the trillion dollar "stimulus' was passed. Unfortunately, you have been terribly wrong. This is not simply a "bump in the road'. While summertime is sometimes filled with rest, relaxation, and recreation in many parts of scenic Michigan, this summer will be filled with uncertainty and pain for many of my constituents who can't find work because your big-spending policies have failed," stated Congressman Walberg.
