American Businesses Endorse NAT GAS Act

Statement

Date: June 22, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

Today, Congressman John Sullivan announced that over 220 businesses from across the country have joined over 180 bipartisan Members of the House in endorsing H.R. 1380, the NAT GAS Act. A list of the growing business support for the bill can be found in the link below. Sullivan offered the following statement reiterating that America must put our addiction to foreign oil behind us by using the cheaper, cleaner, more abundant and American made natural gas sitting under our feet.

"American businesses, large and small, recognize that our $1 billion per day reliance on foreign oil is both an economic and national security risk we simply can't afford to continue taking. This bill not only gets us off foreign oil, but will create hundreds of thousands of jobs right here in America -- that is victory we can't afford to miss. Washington has talked itself in circles for decades about the need to end our addiction for foreign oil, yet today we import more oil than ever before. The NAT GAS Act answers the call for energy security by jumpstarting a natural gas vehicle marketplace that is long overdue in our country. Its time to stop putting OPEC dictators ahead of American taxpayers and start investing in our own economy and job creation instead."
