Woodall Votes in Favor of Limiting Funds to Libya

Statement

The House of Representatives was unable to pass a bill today to prevent the funding of hostilities operations in Libya. Congressman Woodall voted in favor of this bill, H.R. 2278, and issued the following statement:

"Today, on behalf of Georgia's Seventh Congressional District, I voted to end funding for military operations in Libya. The President has reached far beyond his Constitutional authority by failing to consult Congress on continuing U.S. military operations in Libya. He has failed to present a clear strategy on how the United States should thus proceed, and the time is long due for the American people to have a voice on this issue. Though this bill failed, today, my effort to end this funding will continue."

Earlier in the day, Congress voted on a resolution, H.J.Res. 68, that would have upheld the President's authority to continue our current use of military force in Libya. Woodall voted against this bill and it failed by a 123-295 vote.
