U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, last night received the Paraskevaides Awards at the 27th Annual Cyprus and Hellenic Leadership Conference. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

"For nearly four decades, the Cypriot people have endured violent conflict, ongoing division, and foreign occupation. Yet, their resolve and commitment to the ancient Hellenic ideals of freedom, liberty, and democracy remain strong.

"Although some progress has been achieved on reunification talks, much work remains. It is very important that both sides work in good faith to achieve an enduring and peaceful solution which is developed by the Cypriot people.

"I am grateful for this award and pledge to continue to support the goals of the people of Cyprus until the great day when the nation is finally unified and at peace."
