In a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Robert Mueller, and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, U.S. Congressman Patrick Meehan (PA-07), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, inquired about the analysis and dissemination of the cache of information collected from Osama bin Laden's compound after U.S. Special Forces successfully completed their mission on May 1, 2011.
"While I am aware that the bulk of the information yet to be translated and analyzed is classified, I also understand that it has critical homeland security implication," Meehan stated in the letter. "It is imperative that we ensure that such information is being effectively disseminated across the Intelligence Community and also to state and local officials to ensure that all suck stakeholders are best prepared for the terrorist threat."
