Statement on the Death of Osama bin Laden

Statement

Date: May 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

"All Americans rejoice at seeing justice brought to Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda and the face of Islamic terrorism. The architect of the worst terrorist attack on our nation was killed by American forces and buried anonymously at sea. I commend the dedication and tenacity of those in our intelligence services and my deepest gratitude to the members of Seal Team Six and the CIA personnel who stormed the compound and ended bin Laden's life. As in Proverbs 21:15 -- "It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.' Although it is a time to pause and reflect on this great success, the global threat of terrorism continues and we must remain vigilant. We also must find those who helped to shield bin Laden from justice. Again, I thank our military and our intelligence community for their outstanding service."
