Rep. Noe Supports More American Energy

U.S. Representative Kristi Noem (R-SD) today joined a majority of her colleagues in supporting passage of a bill to require the Secretary of the Interior to move forward with offshore lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Virginia that were delayed or canceled by the Obama Administration.

"Foreign energy is unstable and expensive; we must work as fast as we can to produce more homegrown energy. I support moving forward with offshore lease sales because it will help lower gas prices and create jobs here at home," said Noem.

H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act, is part of the American Energy Initiative, which is the House Republican plan to help address soaring gas prices and create new jobs.

"Today's bill is part of a common sense approach to ensuring America develops our own energy resources and becomes less dependent on foreign countries. I support an energy plan that increases our use of wind, biofuels, and other American energy sources," said Noem
