Statement from the Honorable Tim Holden on the Death of Osama bin Laden

Statement

Date: May 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Almost ten years after the awful attacks of September 11, the United States has killed the mastermind behind that attack. I hope Osama bin Laden's death brings some measure of comfort to the families of those killed on that tragic day.

I commend our military and intelligence community for their successful pursuit of Osama bin Laden, which started under President Clinton, followed by President Bush and finished under President Obama. Although the war on terrorism is not over, the killing of bin Laden eliminates the lead figure in bringing terrorism to the world, and I hope serves as notice that the United States will not be intimidated and will not back down from our pursuit of removing terrorists from the world.
