Governor Commends Senate's Bipartisan Passage of Oregon Insurance Exchange

Statement

Location: Salem, OR

Governor Kitzhaber released the following statement after the Senate's bipartisan vote on Senate Bill 99:

"I commend the Senate's vote on Senate Bill 99, establishing the Oregon Insurance Exchange. Creating a local Exchange that is accountable to Oregonians, rather than relying on the federal government, is key to bringing quality, affordable health care to more than 350,000 Oregonians. Oregon's Exchange will also allow our state's small businesses to provide coverage for their workers, which is central not only to the health of Oregonians but to Oregon's economy. I urge the House to quickly approve SB 99 so we can move forward in building a strong health insurance exchange for Oregon that will offer choice, competition, and transparency."
