President Obama's Energy and Economic Policies Drain Americans' Pocket Books

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding the impact of the Obama Administration's energy and economic policies as Americans face rising gas prices.

"The Obama Administration likes to pick winners and losers -- whether it be in the economy at large or in the debate over energy," said Chairman Price. "Under their political economy, President Obama and Washington Democrats continue to advocate policies that drive up the cost of fuel, make us further dependent on foreign sources of energy, and produce greater uncertainty for families, job creators, and investors. The pain at the pump and the debt crisis facing this nation reflect the lack of serious leadership coming from the White House and its congressional allies. While Democrats are looking for the best political strategy, American families are paying for their failed leadership.

"Republicans have outlined a real, responsible vision for a competitive economic future that will keep this country from teetering off the cliff into insolvency. We have long advocated for an all-of-the-above energy strategy that harnesses American resources and ingenuity. The great challenges before us -- whether on jobs, our fiscal reality, or rising gas prices -- have been largely ignored by the White House and Congressional Democrats. The spike in gas prices and the growing concerns over a weakening dollar will have very real consequences for hard working Americans. That is why it is unconscionable that Democrats in Washington continue to play political games, discourage the production of American-made energy, and drive down the value of Americans' pocket books."
