Statement on President Obama's Speech on the Federal Budget

Statement

Today Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on President Obama's Speech on the Federal Budget:
"President Obama outlined a way in which we can cut $4 trillion in spending over the next 12 years in a manner that is responsible and builds upon the greatness of our nation and invests in our future as a country.

"I strongly agree with the President when he said, "This debate over budgets and deficits is about more than just numbers on a page, more than just cutting and spending. It's about the kind of future we want. It's about the kind of country we believe in."

"On the eve of the 100th day of the Republicans taking control of the House of Representatives, we have seen a proposal to eliminate Medicare, a plan to slash spending on the backs of our children and our seniors, and we have seen no legislation to help create jobs and improve our economy.

"President Obama clearly outlined an ambitious way in which to cut trillions of dollars in spending while asking all Americans to share in the sacrifices necessary to get our fiscal house in order all while protecting the American dream for our children, seniors and the middle class. I will work hard to help him make this plan a reality."
