Pete Sessions Applauds GOP Budget Proposal, "The Path to Prosperity"

Statement

Date: April 5, 2011

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) today released the following statement regarding the unveiling of the fiscal year 2012 House budget resolution by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan:

"House Republicans understand that our nation cannot spend its way to prosperity, and today we have confirmed our commitment to fiscal responsibility by offering a budget resolution that paves the way to a brighter future for all Americans. "The Path to Prosperity' proposed by Chairman Ryan will save over $6 trillion in the next ten years when compared to President Obama's unsustainable budget blueprint that will increase our national debt, burden Americans with more taxes and ignore our nation's long-term fiscal challenges.

"I am encouraged by this common-sense budget plan that tackles our nation's fiscal crisis head-on, recognizing that we must put an end to out-of-control spending to get our economy back on track. House Republicans will continue to work tirelessly to reduce wasteful government spending, reform our tax code, gain control over our nation's debt and deficit and put the millions of Americans that remain unemployed back to work. The future of our country relies on the actions we take today. I stand ready to join my Republican colleagues in enacting a budget proposal that will put our nation on a path to prosperity."
