Politico: Congressman Culberson on Paul Ryan's Budget

Statement

We were not elected to ignore the problems facing our nation, nor can we afford to do so. We are in the midst of a serious debt crisis and responsible members of Congress will have the courage to address this fiscal emergency instead of calculating their political futures. Chairman Ryan has put forth a responsible plan that reduces spending, reforms the budget process and repairs our insolvent retirement programs.

President Obama and his fellow Democrats may find it politically advantageous to bury their heads in the sand and wish this problem away. While they do so, House Republicans will work to preserve our economic prosperity and leadership in the world.
