Chuck Fleischmann Votes to Repeal 1099 Provision of ObamaCare

Statement

Chuck Fleischmann voted for, and co-sponsored, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act today.

"I was proud to vote for, and co-sponsor, the repeal of the 1099 provision in ObamaCare today. This is part of my pledge to make use of any means available to get rid of President Obama's health care law. Our country cannot afford this law, and it increases the burdens placed on small businesses. This is unacceptable," Fleischmann said.

"Requiring businesses to report every transaction they make over $600 is an undue burden that many of them cannot afford. The last thing our country needs right now is more restrictions placed on those who truly are the backbone of our economy. I thought it very important that this piece of legislation be the first one I placed my name on. Repealing ObamaCare and standing up for small businesses top my priority list, and this legislation does both."

ObamaCare will require business owners to submit a separate 1099 reporting form for every single business-to-business transaction totaling more than $600. This means small business owners will have to provide 1099 forms for basic business expenses -- substantially increasing the cost of doing business. The Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act repeals the onerous reporting requirement.
