Gas Outages in New Mexico

Press Release

Date: Feb. 3, 2011
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Issues: Oil and Gas

As gas outages continue to leave New Mexicans without heat, I stand ready to work with the Governor and local officials to help people weather this storm. I have alerted FEMA, the White House, and a number of federal agencies of the seriousness of this emergency and urged them to take any action at their disposal to help New Mexicans get through this. I have also reached out to the National Nuclear Security Administration and Los Alamos National Laboratory to ask them to limit the use of natural gas at LANL until we can restore heat to all our communities.

I will continue to monitor the situation and use every resource at the disposal of my Congressional office to help the people of New Mexico. Right now, I urge all those who have not suffered gas outages to turn down their thermostat and conserve as much gas as possible.
