Press Release

Date: Jan. 31, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement in response to Federal District Court Judge Roger Vinson's ruling that ObamaCare is unconstitutional and that the entire law should be void:

"ObamaCare is clearly unconstitutional, courts continue to rule against it, and Americans sent a clear message in November to repeal it. Today, all Republican senators have united to repeal this government takeover of health care. I will work with other Republicans to have a vote to repeal Obamacare as soon as possible," said Senator DeMint.

Senator DeMint is the lead sponsor of S. 192, the Senate bill to fully repeal ObamaCare. All Republican Senators have joined as cosponsors of the repeal bill.

Senator DeMint joined with Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and 30 other Republicans Senators in an amicus brief arguing against the constitutionality of Obamacare in the Florida case on November 18, 2010.
