Statement

This weekend, I wrote to Pepco Chairman Joseph Rigby expressing -- yet again -- my anger and disappointment over the dismal response to this latest round of mass power outages caused by last week's storms. Despite earnest promises, numerous press releases, and even a six point plan, families in our State went without service for up to five days. This type of failure is unacceptable.

I've also written to Doug Nazarian, Chairman of the Public Service Commission, to express my anger and encourage a hearing to get to the bottom of this.

During this legislative session, Delegate Feldman and I will introduce legislation requiring the Public Service Commission to adopt enhanced reliability standards and allowing the Commission to fine utilities for poor performance and direct those payments back to the affected ratepayers.
