Visclosky Responds to Healthcare Vote

Statement

In response to today's 245-189 vote to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Congressman Visclosky issued the following statement:

"Last year at this time, an insurance company could deny healthcare coverage to a child with a pre-existing condition or rescind coverage because a person got sick. Today, those practices are prohibited. Additionally, insurance companies must spend at least 80% of premiums on the delivery of healthcare, and the solvency of the Medicare program has been extended 12 years from 2017 through 2029. I voted against the repeal of these protections."
