Langevin Attends Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Signing

Statement

Date: Dec. 22, 2010
Location: Warwick, RI

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today attended the bill signing ceremony officially repealing the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Langevin has been a longtime supporter of repeal, and he cosponsored the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010.

"It was an honor to be invited by President Obama to today's ceremony to witness the elimination of this unnecessary and discriminatory law. At no time, and certainly not at this critical juncture, should we be discharging qualified, dedicated service members who are willing to defend and sacrifice for their nation. I will continue to monitor this issue and make sure our military moves swiftly and efficiently to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell practices once and for all."
