Governor Parkinson Reacts to Approval of Sunflower Permit

Statement

The following is a statement from Governor Mark Parkinson regarding the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's (KDHE) decision to approve the air quality permit for the proposed 895 MW Coal-Fired Steam Generating Unit at the Sunflower Electric Power Corporation near Holcomb:

"I appreciate the due diligence of the entire KDHE staff for conducting a fair and thorough review of this permit. I am confident that KDHE has completed their work on the permit application following the laws and regulations governing the process and that Acting Secretary Mitchell has reached an objective decision."
