Sen. Chambliss: Child Nutrition Bill Becomes Law

Statement

Date: Dec. 13, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today released the following statement regarding the President signing the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 into law:

"I am pleased the President has signed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 into law. Chairman Lincoln and I worked together to craft a comprehensive child nutrition package that received broad bipartisan support in the Senate. The plan includes additional resources to improve the quality of meals served through the National School Lunch Program, as well as addresses the nutrition environment throughout the entire school campus. Now that this legislation is law, I look forward to giving schools the tools they need to combat both childhood hunger and obesity."
