LoBiondo Applauds Federal Court Ruling on Individual Mandate in Healthcare Law

Statement

Date: Dec. 13, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today issued the following statement after a federal judge in Virginia ruled that the individual mandate included in President Obama's healthcare law is unconstitutional:

"Today's ruling by a federal judge in Virginia reaffirms my opinion that the individual mandate rammed through Congress as part of the new healthcare law is unconstitutional. Coupled with the mandates placed on our small businesses, these job-killing provisions would create significant hardship for countless Americans. This ruling will undoubtedly be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, but today's decision is definitely a key step in repealing and replacing President Obama's healthcare law."
