Gov. Ritter Orders Flags Lowered on Pearl Harbor Day

Statement

Date: Dec. 6, 2010

Gov. Bill Ritter has directed that all U.S. and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff on state buildings across Colorado on Tuesday, Dec. 7, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

"On the morning of Dec. 7, 1941, a surprise attack on U.S. military facilities at Pearl Harbor killed more than 2,000 military personnel and should always be remembered as what President Roosevelt called "a date which will live in infamy,'" Gov. Ritter said. "I hope that all Coloradans will join me in honoring Pearl Harbor Day and pausing to remember the courageous individuals who defended us on that day."
