Email: Edwards Won't Repeal Obamacare

Statement

I support repealing Obamacare. My opponent, 20-year incumbent Congressman Chet Edwards (D-TX), does not.

What does that mean for Texas' seniors?

It means a lot.

Consider this:

The Obamacare bill which Congress passed, the President signed and became law, includes a $455 billion reduction in Medicare spending from 2010-2019, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Additionally, the bill cuts another $60 billion from Medicare, bringing the total cuts to over $500 billion over the next ten years.

HELP ME STOP $500 BILLION IN MEDICARE CUTS THAT WILL HURT SENIORS

A huge portion of the cuts, over $130 billion, directly impacts a program called Medicare Advantage, a privately run, subsidized plan that is popular with millions of seniors.

According to the Kaiser Foundation, over 560,000 Texans seniors are currently enrolled in Medicare Advantage (19.8 percent of all Texans seniors who are enrolled in Medicare have these plans) and now their coverage plans are threatened by the cuts in Obamacare. Nationwide, almost 11 million seniors are enrolled.

What will these cuts mean?

According to the Chief Actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as many as 7.4 million seniors could lose coverage through Medicare Advantage.

The stakes are high in this election.

For the over half million Texas seniors whose Medicare is threatened by Obamacare, Chet Edwards will do nothing to help you. If Edwards is truly opposed to Obamacare, why won't he support repealing it?

Defunding and repealing this horrible government takeover of American healthcare will be a top priority of mine in Congress.

The choice is clear.

If you oppose Obamacare, the Medicare cuts which will harm our seniors, and the damage this bill will do to our economy, will you join our team?
