New Audit Reveals Hundreds of Violent Incidents, as Safety Records are Being Kept from Public

What is Scott Walker Hiding?

Tom Barrett called on Scott Walker today to release a safety report on his County Mental Health Complex that is being kept from the public and the agency conducting an investigating into patient safety at the facility.

A new audit reveals that "more than 400 patients were involved in about 800 violent events, including assault, improper sexual contact and property damage." (MJS 10/25/10) Yet County officials are still refusing to share information with Disability Rights Wisconsin -- the organization tasked by the state to perform a comprehensive review of Walker's Mental Health complex -- in the aftermath of the sexual assault scandal at the facility. The County is refusing even though officials fully acknowledge DRW is has a right to the records.

"Scott Walker seems more interested in hiding the truth about the scandal at his Mental Health Complex than he is in protecting patients and solving this crisis," said Barrett. "The public and the people investigating this facility deserve full information, yet they are being stonewalled. It's long past time for Scott Walker to immediately release the safety report on his Mental Health Complex, and his refusal only raises questions about what Walker is hiding."
