Rooney Statement on ObamaCare Lawsuit Ruling

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) today issued the following statement after a Florida judge ruled that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of ObamaCare can move forward:

"Never before has the federal government forced every citizen to purchase a product or service from a private company simply as a requirement of being a citizen. I am confident that as this case moves forward, the courts will recognize that this law is a blatant abuse of the federal government's power, and that it has no basis in the letter or the intent of the Constitution.

"This ruling is an important step in the process to challenge the constitutionality of the new health care law, and I'm very pleased that the judge made the correct decision in allowing this case to proceed."

Rooney is a former constitutional law professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
