Irresponsible spending at the state level has reached epic proportions. With tax collections down due to the sluggish economy and high unemployment, now is not the time to be greatly expanding state programs.
* Eliminate all pork-barrel spending from the budget
* Fund public assistance fraud prevention efforts, which will save money in the long run
* Reduce redundancy at state agencies and require across-the-board agency budget reductions
* Put a moratorium on establishing new, expensive state programs until funding is secured for the existing ones
