Pompeo Issues Statement on Hawker-Beechcraft Decision

Press Release

Date: Oct. 5, 2010
Location: Wichita, KS

Mike Pompeo responded today to the decision by Hawker-Beechcraft to keep its manufacturing operations in Wichita.

"The decision by Hawker-Beechcraft to keep its manufacturing operations in Wichita is a testament to the dedicated and most qualified aviation workforce in the world."

"While Wichita dodged what could have been a devastating blow to the Kansas economy, the fact that Hawker-Beechcraft was even considering a move to Louisiana is cause for great concern. We must create an economic environment that encourages companies to grow and create jobs in Kansas."

"The 6,000 jobs at Hawker-Beechcraft are in Representative Raj Goyle's Kansas House District. During Rep. Goyle's four years as a politician in Topeka, the Kansas state budget grew every single year. It's precisely the big government policies of Goyle, Pelosi and Obama that destroy good paying jobs in our Kansas aviation industry."

"I've worked in the aircraft industry and I know many of the hard-working people at Hawker-Beechcraft. I am happy that it appears they are going to have a chance to stay in Wichita and live and work in the air capital of the world."
