Issue Position

I support a permanent extension to the National Flood Insurance Program. Keys homeowners depend on consistent, affordable flood coverage for their homes and businesses. I also support the addition of windstorm coverage into this important program.

I sponsored a bill establishing a National Hurricane Research Initiative, which will help aid our disaster preparedness efforts by making grants available to hurricane researchers, assist in our preparedness and promote earlier hurricane detection.

I voted for the Homeowner's Defense Act, establishing a National Catastrophe Fund. This act would help alleviate the insurance market after a natural disaster.
