Issue Position: Education

Issue Position

* Lincoln strongly believes in more parental involvement and the teaching of values in our schools. Every student should be afforded access to a quality education that gives them their best chance to succeed.

* A supporter of the Head Start early learning program, Davis voted for the Improving Head Start Act, a bill aimed at providing an early learning environment and crucial social and medical care for children who are at a disadvantage due to a lack of available services. The authorization measure called for increased funding to provide Head Start centers the resources they need to meet current demands and boost access with strong accountability measures.

* Davis voted for The College Cost Reduction Act, saying, "An investment in education is an investment in American competitiveness. Tomorrow's workers must have the opportunity to learn the skills they need to compete in today's markets." To reduce the cost of loans for millions of student borrowers, this legislation would cut interest rates in half on need-based student loans, from 6.8 percent to 3.4 percent over a four year span.
