Republicans Offer "Pledge to America" and Lay Out Vision to Restore Common Sense to Washington

Location: Montgomery, AL

This morning, House Republicans announced their "Pledge to America" laying out their vision for common sense reform to Washington. This governing agenda, which was built by listening to the concerns of the American people, focuses on creating jobs, breaking Washington's addiction to spending, and increasing transparency and accountability to restore the public's trust.

This plan stands in stark contrast to the agenda pushed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats that has led to out of control spending, exploding deficits, higher taxes, and fewer jobs.

"It's very refreshing to see an agenda that is based on listening to the people, rather than the Democrat approach of lecturing us and then ramming their plans through against our wishes," said Martha Roby, Republican nominee for Alabama's Second Congressional District. "Much of what's included in the "Pledge to America" is what I've been hearing in all 16 counties across this district for the last year. The people have spoken, and Republicans have heard them loud and clear."

"This is an optimistic and forward-looking plan that focuses on what we need to do to turn this country around," said Roby. "I look forward to being part of the majority that will work to achieve these reforms. Right now, Nancy Pelosi and her enablers like Bobby Bright stand in the way of accomplishing this. Come November we can remove these roadblocks and move our country forward."
