Issue Position: Jobs & Energy & the Enviornment

Issue Position

The current unemployment rate is critical and will soon get worse. High taxes and unnecessary regulations have forced many good jobs offshore. The federal government has restricted the production of domestic oil and eliminated nuclear power while at the same time giving us no alternatives. We are currently ripe for oil terrorism and when our current deficit spending impacts the Dollar we can expect substantially higher prices on everything, especially gas. At the same time the EPA has become a bureaucracy that hurts American business but does surprisingly little to really help the environment.

We need to turn American industry and the American worker loose. We need to remove unneeded restrictions and provide incentives that will empower American industry. American ingenuity and industry can solve our energy needs while at the same time IMPROVING our environment. Also, American ingenuity and industry will continue to provide exciting new goods and services that will lead to good, clean, well paying jobs and a new prosperity. America can lead the world out of the current financial and political problems.

The following are some ideas we can explore:

* Provide incentives for Americans to rebuild our cities and towns to be eco friendly and affordable. Hopefully we can accommodate small electric cars that will be inexpensive to operate and emissions free.
* Provide incentives for Americans to generate abundant clean electric energy through Nuclear, Geo thermal, Solar, and as yet unknown technologies.
* Provide incentives for high-speed rail and other forms of public transportation that will reduce emissions.
* Provide incentives for Americans to perfect hydrogen or some other alternative to oil for future intercity and recreational travel.
* Remove current restrictions so as to allow domestic production and refinement of oil. This will protect us from foreign exploitation and create good Jobs until alternative energy sources are available.
* We need to have true environmental planning, not just anti-rich anti-development restrictions.
* Provide incentives for Americans to continue to develop military technologies that will prevent the use of nuclear and other weapons against us and others.
