Democratic candidate for US Congress, David Whitaker, appeared at the annual conference of the Arkansas Economic Developers in Hot Springs on Tuesday, speaking at a forum with his opponent, Rogers Mayor Steve Womack. The topic of the day was economic development in Arkansas, and David's plan to bring growth to Arkansas left no doubt who he would put first in Washington.

"It was an honor to get to speak with the folks who create jobs in Arkansas. In order to get this economy into a real recovery, we've got to put small businesses and working middle-class families first," Whitaker said.

Whitaker's economic plans include extending tax cuts to middle-class families and small businesses, and making sure that companies that employ the majority of their workers in the United States receive incentives for creating jobs.

"There are huge differences in this race. My opponent thinks that to stimulate the economy, we need to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires, an idea that even the House Republican whip acknowledges will explode the deficit," said Whitaker.

The stark differences between Whitaker and his opponent highlight the need for open and objective Third District debates in the coming months, and the dangerous policies that Womack would embrace if elected.

"Steve Womack may think it's okay to 'dig the hole deeper' when it comes to the deficit, but in the Whitaker Congressional office, we're going to put responsible spending first, and make sure that working Americans always come first when it comes to tax cuts," said Whitaker spokesman Will Watson.

So far, Womack has only agreed to one forum with Whitaker, who has agreed to forums at the University of Arkansas and on the Arkansas Education Television Network (AETN).

"We have agreed to meet Mayor Womack on his own turf, at the Benton County Republican Women's forum, and we are ready and willing to debate the issues wherever he wants. ," said Watson.
