Terrorists declared war on us. They have no remorse in killing innocent people. I believe we need to maintain an offensive posture when seeking out terrorist operatives and cutting off their funding. We need to work with other countries if we are going to prevent another September 11th. We must let the Iraqi and Afghani people govern themselves as soon as possible. However, we must be tactful as we draw down forces, careful not to let another tyrant or oppressive group assume power. The advice and expertise of our military leaders on the ground will continue to be invaluable in this process. Democracy has a chance in Iraq and Afghanistan but ultimately it will be up to the will of the people in those countries.
