Wilson: "This is a Wonderful Victory for Ohio Schools"

Statement

Upon learning that Ohio has won in Phase II of the Race to the Top competition, Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) released the following statement:

"I'm very proud that Ohio has been selected as one of the winners of the Race to the Top II grant competition. Improving Ohio's education system is vitally important so that all students may realize their full potential and successfully compete in our global marketplace. This is a wonderful victory for Ohio schools which will be able to do great things with the funding. Our state has taken significant steps to advance student performance, increase graduation rates, and eliminate the achievement gap. I was happy to support the Race to the Top application, and I'm proud of all of the people who worked on the proposal. This award will help accelerate our state's existing agenda to strategically address education gaps."
