Issue Position: Transportation and Infrastructure

Issue Position

We must ensure that Alabama has an effective and efficient transportation system in order to successfully grow and prosper in the 21st Century. Good jobs and good schools are meaningless unless workers and students are able to get there safely and without undue congestion, and there are far too many roads and bridges across our state that are utilized far beyond what was anticipated when they were constructed.

We need to look at all approaches to address our infrastructure needs. I have created a commission to study innovative methods that have been used in other states, including public-private partnerships where appropriate, to better utilize our scarce tax dollars. The right answer is a broad, long-term strategy that allows our state's citizens to live, work and travel safely, easily and cost effectively.
